Nicki Minaj Album Artwork, Offends Many

By  |

Nicki Minaj released her new single on worldstarhiphop.com last night. The internet buzz went crazy instantly sharing, commenting, and slandering her new single. The Single is called “Looking A$$ N*****”! The rapid track spits fire and throws shade at broke men, period. The hype surrounding the track will be short lived, due to Nicki’s offensive album artwork she used to promote the track.

The picture of civil rights leader, Malcolm X holding an M1 Carbine rifle while peering out of a window is thought to be published in Ebony and Life magazine in 1964. The picture was taken in his Queens home, after he left the Nation of Islam, and would be assassinated a year later.

Nicki used this same image on her album to promote a song referring to black men as “N*ggas” once again. This is very disturbing and offensive. Why do you think Nicki decided to use this photograph? It does not make sense to me for Nicki to release such an offensive track/album artwork especially during “Black History Month.”  I don’t know what will happen in the near future over the controversial photo but it speaks volumes if we sit back and do nothing.
