Head Crack Hosts “RACE” Movie Screening and Q&A With Actor Stephen James

Race is an upcoming biographical sports-drama film. It is the first feature biopic film about African American athlete Jesse Owens, who won a record-breaking four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.Directed by Stephen Hopkins and written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, the film stars Stephan James, Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt and Carice van Houten.

The film is being supported by the Owens family, the Jesse Owens Foundation, the Jesse Owens Trust and the Luminary Group.

Principal photography began on July 24, 2014, in Montreal, Canada. Forecast Pictures, Solo Film, and Trinity Race are producing the film, Entertainment One will release the film in Canada, Focus Features and TriStar Pictures in the United States on February 19, 2016, and SquareOne Entertainment will release in Germany in 2015.

Nearly 8 decades after Owens stood before Hitler after winning gold 4 times – the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4 × 100 meter relay – the fight for equality continues. Racial tension brought on by police shootings of young African Americans as well as racially insensitive political dialogue have become commonplace across the country. The release of ‘Race,’ which opens nationwide on February 19th. 


The RACE pre screening was held at the historic Apex Museum this past Saturday. Actor, Stephan James participated in a Q&A conducted by “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show’s”
