Atlanta International Fashion Week is here! Marlo Hampton and Gocha Hawkins kicked off the fashion week by hosting a press conference at the Atlanta City Hall on Wednesday March 30th, 2016. The ladies talked about the upcoming fashion events and the background of Atlanta International Fashion Week gearing up media and press for a full week of diverse fashion and international designers. Paula Whittle (Founder, Atlanta International Fashion Week, AIFW), Gocha Hawkins(Celebrity Stylist/Salon Owner, Creative Director, AIFW), Marlo Hampton (Style Strategist/TV Personality, Style Ambassador, AIFW) and various models and local and international fashion designers were present during the press conference doing interviews and taking photo opps with the media and guests. Atlanta International Week is March 30th- April 2nd, 2016.

The Atlanta International Fashion Week is one of the largest fashion and entertainment events in Atlanta. We have featured over 270 notable designers from around the globe and have showcased major brands such as Roberto Cavalli, Trina Turk, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, Juicy Couture, Rock & Republic, White House Black Market, Sean John, Dereon, BCBG, True Religion, Akademiks, Ecko, Baby Phat, Rocawear. AIFW has received proclamations from the Atlanta City Council and the State Governor. Past partners include Nordstrom, World Fashion TV, Columbia Pictures, Smartwater, Comcast, Mercedes Benz, Paul Mitchell, W Hotel, Cynthia Bailey, Paramount Pictures, Usher’s New Look, Delta, Revlon and Skinny Pop. Celebrity attendees include Kim Kardashian, Sean “P.Diddy” Combs, Floyd Mayweather, R&B artist Monica and hosts of corporate buyers and industry professionals.
Marlo P. Hampton is best known for her appearances on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and as the unforgettable bridesmaid on “I Dream of NeNe.” Marlo received a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Arts and Science in 2003 from the University of Southern Florida where she studied Social Work and Interdisciplinary Science. By 2008, Marlo and her signature style opened her first high-end fashion boutique (The Red Carpet Boutique) which catered to the who’s-who of Atlanta’s elite. With over 20 years in fashion, Marlo has embarked upon new ventures, including her weekly web series “Marlo’s Closet,” where she is both host and Executive Producer. Marlo is a regular guest style contributor on “Atlanta & Co,” a live, weekday show on events and entertainment in the Atlanta area. Additionally, she has been covered in articles and features for: Jet Magazine, Denim Magazine, US Weekly, BET’s Lift Every Voice, Sister 2 Sister Magazine, OK Magazine, The Atlantan and Jezebel publications. She is the founder of the Glam It UP! Project, which she founded to encourage young girls, ages 13-17, in foster care to pursue excellence in all their endeavors.



Gocha Hawkins (pronounced “go-shay”) is an award-winning hairstylist and owner of Gocha Salon, an Atlanta-based salon specializing in precision cuts, color, extensions and make up applications. A native of Detroit, MI, Gocha has over 20 years of experience in the beauty business with 19 of those years spent as a salon owner. She received her cosmetology training at John M. Patterson State Technical College (now Trenholm State) in Montgomery, AL. She’s worked with celebrities such as Serena Williams, Beyonce, Keyshia Cole, Christina Milian, Kandi Burruss, Vivica Fox, Drake, Ja Rule, Pitbull, Mike Epps, Lil’ Jon, The Game, R. Kelly, T.I., Kelly Rowlandand many more. Her work has been featured in Sophisticate’s Black Hair, Style Q, Smooth Magazine and on the covers of Hot Atlanta, Salon Profiles, Salon Sense and Black Passions.


Additionally, Gocha has over 10 years of experience in image consulting for the NBA. She has worked for the Orlando Magic cheerleaders, the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks dancers as a key hairstylist. She has also earned credits for work done on the sets of H&M and McDonalds commercials, a short film (Fit Arcade Gone Wild) and TV shows such as “Real Housewives of Atlanta” (Bravo), “La La’s Full Court Life” (VH1) and “Kandi’s Wedding” (Bravo). In 2013, she launched Wrecklez (pronounced “reckless”), a line of styling products designed for at-home hair maintenance.
