Ballerina Misty Copeland Earns a Role in Disney’s Adaptation The Nutcracker
WRITTEN BY: Sheena Mashore
Misty Copeland’s hard work is making waves to the big screen. The Ballerina scored a role in Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” movie. Misty posted a picture of her script on her Instagram account saying: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing project with Disney and the wonderful Lass Hallstrom.”
On June 30, 2015 Copeland became the first African-American woman to be promoted to principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre’s 75-year history. This ‘girl on fire’ has been breaking down barriers nonstop.
According to CNN, she will be the subject of Nelson George’s 2015 document “A Ballerina’s Tale”. Copeland will be the lead ballerina in the “Nutcracker’s” only dance scene.
Congratulation Misty Copeland! Continue being the inspiration for minorities to follow their dreams and never giving up.
