By  |

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The perfect time to shop for the best gifts for your loved ones.  What better way to be inspired than to know where and what to get your friend or spouse. Most importantly, it is always great to support our black owned business owners. Here are five black owned boutiques where you can shop on-line or on-site for the holidays.

Ms. Social Butterfly located in South Carolina is your perfect southern boutique to find edgy and bold pieces for your next night out on the town. I had the pleasure to speak with owner Michelle Black.  She says “our boutique has a “Wardrobe Split Personality” where we offer an array of styles from Sassy/Sexy club wear to the Classy/Fabulous pieces that you can wear to various social events as well as work”. This boutique caters to 2 different type of women. There is the Social Butterflies (ages 25-45) that attend parties, social events, and love our unique standout piece(s). Then there are those that are potential Social Butterflies (ages 35-50) that’s looking to step outside their box, which are also looking for that same unique standout piece. Michelle says her favorite is, “a Jumpsuit. Jumpsuits are easy and don’t require a lot of thought process.

You can just add accessories (jewelry/handbag) and a Fab pair of heels and your look is complete. We have some women that have trouble with piecing looks together, so we always recommend a jumpsuit.”

Lettie Gooch can be found in the nation’s capital.  This independent women’s boutique features an eclectic mix of emerging designers and a hand-picked collection of wearable and well-made pieces. Do not be fooled, you will be amazes at the chic, but vibrant patterns. With eco-friendly knits and ‘wearable art’ accessories, this boutique offers clothing for every occasion with an array of accessories to go along with it.

Ladies you will be impressed with House of Fashion Boutique located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Tell your significant others to check them out quick.  I spoke with owner Christine Tackes and she says, “HFB mission is to bring out the best in each woman we encounter. We recognize that when you look and feel good you gain extraordinary confidence.” If you are looking for affordable price, HFB is your place to go for bodycon dresses, matching sets and trendy pieces.  Christine says her favorite pieces right now are, “the Black Spades Jacket.

Beautiful suede and gold detail, and the Black and Nude Lace Jumpsuit is that is perfect for the holidays. It’s also a picture of the CEO Christine Tackes.

The Brownstone does not shy away from providing every woman unique taste. In Harlem, New York our ladies size 12-20 can receive upscale customer care. The lifestyle boutique focuses on dressing women in ethnically inspired fashion with supreme taste. With contemporary designer clothing, it offers its clients a distinctively private shopping experience for customers seeking quality, value and most of all customer service. Jeweled silk shirts, ankh-encrusted wash clothes, and clothing from all around the world grace their walls; of course they’ve been featured by other notable outlets including The New York Times, Black Enterprise, and many more.

Meow and Barks Boutique in sunny Florida will have you stopping the show with their glitz and glamour.  If you’re looking for something glam, this may be the place for you! They specialize in sparkly tops, look-at me dresses, and hot accessories, and the price points are super affordable.
