August Alsina Returns

By  |

Returning from a brief hiatus,  August Alsina is back.

August Alsina is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He contributes his initiative to focusing and pursuing a career in music to death of his big brother Mel, who was gunned down in 2010. Below is a picture of the inside of August Alsina’s first album cover, Testinomy, with a dedication for his brother included.

August Alsina left his hometown and ventured to Atlanta. While in Atlanta he put in work and at 19 he signed a record deal with Def Jam.

Since then August Alsina has released an EP and two albums. The EP is titled  Downtown: Life Under The Gun. LUTG gave us a look inside of how life was in NOLA. Included on this EP is the song that some say put him on the map, I Luv It featuring Trinidad James, Ghetto featuring Rich Homie Quan, and Downtown, which speaks on the death of his brother Mel.
His first album Testimony gave us his truth and nothing but the truth. It includes songs like Make It Home, No Love, Numb, Ghetto featuring Yo Gotti, and Kissin’ on my Tattoos.
This Thing Called Life speaks on deeper issues surrounding his life and even some issues rooted within the community. This album includes Hip- Hop, Why I Do It, Song Cry, and one of my personal favorites, Look At How Far I’ve Come.

He has headline his very own tour, Testimony. He’s also toured with artists like The Dream,  Kelly Rowland, 2-Chainz, Chris Brown and Usher. He has collaborated with DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and many others.

Starting off the New Year right August released two songs. Up first was the song DRUGS.
